I noticed one of my bottom decks was not heating evenly. I poked around and found a crack in the top brick! (Don't worry the oven still works just fine) Since my oven is new I called to claim it under my warranty policy.
No problem they tell me, we just need some information about your oven. Lets start with the serial number. Suddenly I realize I didn't take a picture of the serial number, conveniently located on the back of the oven, before we installed it. [insert head scratching] There's no way I can move the oven by myself but there's a three inch gap behind the oven to allow air circulation.
This was the solution I came up with. I strapped two Petzl headlamps to the back of my iphone. Thankfully my LifeProof case has a tiny hole that I could thread a loop of dental floss through. With the lights on and the video rolling I was able to send my phone rappelling over the back of the oven to pan around. I finally found the serial plate and after about twenty attempts I captured a clear shot of all the important info.
Note to self: Keep a record of serial numbers on everything before you install.
