Jigsaw Foor

The floor in one piece...

Here you can see all the stations.  Each station is two inches wide, we planned each cut to fall in the middle of the station so that you have enough metal to support the sides and corners.  It took some planning to cut the floors so that each station was accessible without having twenty jigsaw pieces.   Why not just leave it as one large piece?  We plan to build a large horseshoe counter around the entire stern section and then plan an island in the middle.  All the cabinetry will be drilled and tapped into the stations for added support.  That means that some floorboards will be permanent.  The other bits of floor will have to open around the permanent pieces.  AND on top of all the functional requirements, Sasha says it has to look good, too.

Because the stuffing box is an important thing to keep an eye on, we cut a small hatch just for this little guy.
