Summer time in the Virgin Islands brings pretty reliable weather. It is going to be sunny for 3-4 days, then it will rain for 3-4 days while a tripical wave pushes throuhg. We took advantage of our few sunny days and made lots of holes in the top of our boat.
Here I'm reintalling our jib sheet winches. They used to be all the way outboard on the pilothouse roof which made it a bit harder to sail single handed and took away from her lines in a profile view of the boat. We moved each winch inboard about a foot and a half. We keep the winch positioned on a roof stringer for a little more strength and since it's an aluminum boat we don't need a backing plate. This project totaled five 5/16 holes per winch.
