More Sunny Day Work

Next we're going to mount solar panels on the roof.  We want the panel mounts to be attached the boat in a permanent fashion, but we want the panels themselves removable so that we can stash them inside and out of the weather anytime we are hauled out.  We decided to use two inch aluminum angle brackets, which they don't sell here so we made some of our own.  Then, we drilled twelve more holes in the boat, and through bolted each bracket with a bit of sikaflex on the back to make the whole thing water tight.

After the sikaflex set up we mounted the panels for a test fit.  Pretty awesome!  I tapped and drilled each hole in the panel so that the whole thing bolts together because there was no good way to get your fingers around to the back side of each bracket to hold nuts.

The pilothouse roof with her new fittings.  Two winches, two solar panels, and two hatches.  When we were finishing up this project I told Sasha that I felt like I was back on a catamaran because there was two of everything!!
