Battery Hook-Up

Borrowing a tool from your friend Kevin is easy… right?  How about when you are at Nanny Cay, Kevin is on his boat in the North Sound and planning to sail to St. Thomas that very night to catch a plane home.  It gets complicated from there, but it ended up with Sasha borrowing a dinghy from another friend and heading out into the to Sir Francis Drake channel at 11:30pm to track down Kevin in his sailboat as he scooted past Nanny Cay in very light winds.  The meeting happened, and we got our hands on some proper battery cable crimps.

Sasha has all the toys out to make a set of battery cables to hook up our bank of six AGMs.  We decided to connect the entire bank in parallel.   We will have separate batteries for the engine and generator starters.

Me, holding the battery cable and terminal -- hoping Sasha does not crimp my fingers.

Installing adhesive-lined heat-shrink tubing over the terminals creates a watertight seal so that the wires don't begin corroding.

More to come!
