Back and Ready for Actionn

Big moves going on down here.  So big in fact, that I've been too busy to blog in the two weeks we've been back on Tortola.  First week back was lots of settling back into our boat work.   Second week was spent handing over Soterion, the charter boat we've worked on for three years, to the new crew.  Starting with the work done on board before we handed over Soterion:

Our big push now is to get the boat ready for the water!  Yes, we are actually going to do it.  Middle of November (or whenever the yard can dig us out from behind lots of other boats) we will be splashing.  This means the pressure is on to get the engine room sorted.  Step one, continue mounting big stuff before the engine goes back in.  Below we have a set of rebuilt membranes sold to us by our friends Travis and Rosemary who own their own charter boat down this way.

We shopped around, but were unable to find the mounting brackets we hoped to use, so Sasha put his engineering hat on and came up with another solution.  We used two epoxy-coated mounting boards, eight very large stainless steel hose clamps, and a few lengths of gasket material to absorb vibration.

Perfect.
